Blane Barnes

Blane Barnes is a 1980 QHS graduate who played for the late Paul "Coach K" Koscielski. The 1980 Blue Devil football team got off to a fast start going 4-0, but finished the season with a 4-5 record. This team was blessed with a large group of talented football players, many being multi-sport athletes. Approximately seven men went on to play football/sports at the collegiate level. Blane was voted Most-Improved Player and WB6 All-Conference Defensive End his senior year. The Class of 1980 had their blue-white scrimmage at Q-Stadium (currently the home of the QU Hawks), and upon the completion of Flinn Stadium, christened the facility with a victory over Alton. Blane went on to be a 4-year letterman and 3-year starter for the Fightin' Titans of Illinois Wesleyan. Upon entering Wesleyan, Blane switched to the offensive side of the ball and helped the Titans win a College Conference of Illinois/Wisconsin title. After graduation, he started his teaching/coaching career at WM. Chrisman High School in Kansas City. Blane has been an educator for 24 years and is currently the art teacher at QHS. Family includes his wife, Angie (1982), daughters Maddy (2010), and Makenzy (2013).
